Monolithics در سیستم Al2O3-SiC به دلیل حضور SiC خواص و کاربردهای ویژه ای را به خود اختصاص داده است. SiC ویژگی منحصربفرد زیادی مثل هدایت حرارتی بالا، انبساط حرارتی پایین و فعالیت کم با سرباره دارد. به طور معمول، از SiC براي افزايش رسانايي حرارتي و كاهش ضريب انبساط حرارتي و در نتيجه، افزايش مقاومت به شوك حرارتي ديرگدازهاي ريختني آلومينايي استفاده ميشود.
دیرگدازهای حاوی SiC از مقاومت سایشی بالایی نسبت به دیرگدازهای کم سیمان آلومینایی برخوردار است. همچنین این نسوزها در برابر حملات شیمیایی مقاومت بالایی داشته که این خود باعث افزایش مقاومت سایشی میشود. میزان SiC بر خواص جرم مخصوصا جریان یابی آن تاثیر داشته و با افزایش این ذرات فلو و جریان یابی بتن به دلیل ابگریز بودن این ذرات کاهش می یابد. لذا در این جرمها باید از مواد پراکنده ساز استفاده شود. افزودنیهای روانساز وظیفه کاهش آب مصرفی و فراهم کردن جریانیابی مناسب را برای جرم ریختنی، جهت پرکردن مناسب قالب به عهده دارند.
دیرگدازهای ریختنی الومینایی حاوی SiC به دلیل داشتن خواص مناسب و برتر نسبت به دیرگدازهای دیگر و مقاومت به سایش بالا در صنایع مختلف همانند فولاد، آهن و کوره های عملیات حرارتی کاربرد گسترده دارد. همچنین در دیواره و بدنه دودکش و کوره زباله سوز، قسمت پیش گرم کوره سیمان، پاتیلهای ذوب آلومینیوم و صنایع تولید فلزات رنگی استفاده میشود. در شرکت آذرشهاب انواع جرمهای آلومینایی حاوی درصدهای مختلف سیلیون کارباید به صورت جرم با سیمان متوسط، کم سیمان و بسیار کم سیمان و بدون سیمان قابل ارائه هستند.
