در اکثر جرم های آلومینایی و آلومینوسیلیکاتی از سیمان نسوز به عنوان بایندر استفاده میشود. مکانیزم عملکرد بایندر در این جرمها براساس هیدراسیون سیمان و تشکیل انواع فازهای هیدراته کلسیم آلومیناتی است. با حرارت دهی جرم نسوز، فازهای هیدراته به ترتیب در گستره دمایی 210 تا 370 درجه سلسیوس دهیدراته شده و با خروج آب تخلخل در ساختار افزایش یافته و دانسیته افت میکند.
